Ziro, April 25, 2025 – In a continued crackdown on drug-related activities, Ziro Police have seized 4.174 kilograms of cannabis (ganja) and arrested one individual in connection with the case. The operation was carried out under the supervision of the Superintendent of Police, Ziro, following credible information received from a reliable source regarding the presence of a drug peddler in the Old Ziro area.
Acting swiftly on the tip-off, a police team comprising Inspector Roy, Sub-Inspector J. Doye, ASIs P. Novin, K. Leriak, T. Toma, and Constable A. Ruji, under the supervision of SDPO Ziro, was dispatched to the location. During vigilant patrolling in the Kudung Burang area, the team successfully traced a quarter suspected to be involved in drug peddling.
Upon reaching the location, the police apprehended one individual identified as Dunik Lokar, 23 years old. A thorough search of the premises led to the recovery of bin bags containing suspected cannabis. The total weight of the seized substance was 4.174 kilograms. The seizure was made following all legal procedures, in the presence of Executive Magistrate Mide Bage.
A case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Further investigation is currently underway to ascertain the full extent of the drug network and whether more individuals are involved in the operation. The Ziro Police reaffirm their commitment to eradicating the drug menace from the region and ensuring the safety and well-being of its citizens.
