On the first death anniversary of martyr Corporal Tage Hailyang, people across Arunachal Pradesh, especially Lower Subansiri district, are remembering the brave son of the soil who laid down his life during the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, 2025.
Born on February 7, 1997, to Tage Tadey and Yagyang in the small village of Tajang, Lower Subansiri district, Corporal Hailyang was known for his humble nature, discipline, and dedication from an early age. He began his education at Ziro Valley School, Old Ziro, later completed Class X from Vaish Model Senior Secondary School, Bhiwani, Haryana, and Class XII from KL Mehta Dayanand Public Senior Secondary School, Faridabad. He pursued his graduation from Don Bosco College, Itanagar.

Corporal Hailyang joined the Indian Air Force as an Aircraftman on June 28, 2017, and underwent training at Airman Training School, Belgaum. Through hard work and commitment, he was promoted to Leading Aircraftman in July 2020 and later to Corporal in July 2022.
He served in New Delhi before being posted to Air Force Station Srinagar. On April 21, 2025, he was transferred to Air Force Station Mohanbari, Assam, and was scheduled to report there in May.
Just months after marrying on December 10, 2024, Corporal Hailyang and his wife visited Pahalgam on April 22, 2025. During the terrorist attack, instead of running to safety, he courageously helped civilians find shelter and escape routes. In the process, he was shot at close range by terrorists and attained martyrdom.
Corporal Tage Hailyang’s bravery, sacrifice, and devotion to duty continue to inspire generations. On his first death anniversary, family members, friends, and well-wishers are paying heartfelt tributes to the hero whose legacy lives on forever.
