Ziro, April 28, 2025 — Shri Vivek H.P., IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Lower Subansiri District, chaired the 8th District Level NCORD Committee Review Meeting at the Secretariat Building, Ziro, in the presence of various committee members, community-based organizations (CBOs), and NGOs of the district. During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner appreciated the relentless efforts of the District Police in combating the menace of drugs and emphasized the need for continuous joint and concerted action by all stakeholders to effectively address the growing narcotics threat in the valley. Shri Ojing Lego, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Lower Subansiri District, provided an update on recent developments, informing that the District Police have registered six cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and arrested ten individuals involved in drug-related crimes. To further aid awareness, he also displayed samples of suspected heroin and cannabis prevalent in the district, helping members present to identify banned narcotic substances. The meeting highlighted the importance of sustained vigilance, community participation, and coordinated strategies to root out the drug problem from the district.
