A 19-year-old student, identified as Tato Podo, was found dead Sunday in a hostel bathroom at St Xavier’s International School in Aalo, West Siang district. Fellow students discovered him after forcing open the locked door.
Police have ruled out foul play based on a preliminary investigation and CCTV footage, which showed Podo entering the bathroom alone Saturday night. After viewing the evidence, the family stated they believe the death was self-inflicted and requested the withdrawal of the case without a post-mortem, citing customary practices. The body was subsequently released to them for the final rites.
