New Delhi, November 10 — At least eight people were killed and several injured after a high-intensity explosion tore through a parked car near the Red Fort metro station on Monday evening, officials confirmed. The powerful blast set multiple vehicles ablaze and shattered window panes across the crowded area.

According to Delhi Police, a high alert has been sounded across the city. Seven fire tenders were rushed to the spot while police cordoned off the entire stretch. Senior police officers and forensic teams are investigating the cause of the explosion.
“The blast occurred in a car parked near Red Fort metro station gate number 1. The intensity was significant, and injuries are feared,” a senior Delhi Fire Service official said.

Visuals from the scene showed flames engulfing several vehicles as panic spread through the area. Eyewitnesses reported hearing a deafening noise moments before the explosion. One injured commuter said the blast appeared to have originated from a Swift car nearby. Another witness described the shockwaves as strong enough to shake nearby buildings, including markets around Chandni Chowk.

Sanjay Bhargaw, president of the Chandni Chowk Traders Association, said the explosion caused chaos in the area. “People started running as the entire building shook,” he shared.
The investigation is ongoing to determine the nature and source of the blast.
