Punyo Nampi, a chemistry graduate hailing from Arunachal Pradesh, has been awarded the esteemed Chancellor’s International Scholarship at the University of Warwick, England.

Nampi, a native of Ziro in Lower Subansiri district, is the daughter of Punyo Yakang and the late Punyo Tado. She graduated with a B.Sc. (Hons) in Chemistry from St. Joseph’s College, Darjeeling, where she topped her batch in 2022.
She then cleared the IIT Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM), securing admission to IIT Madras. There, she earned a Master’s degree in Chemistry with First-Class Honours.
Nampi is one of 42 students worldwide selected for the prestigious Chancellor’s International Scholarship, which will support her PhD studies in Chemistry at the University of Warwick for three and a half years.
The university, ranked 69th globally in the QS World Rankings and a member of the elite Russell Group, is renowned for its excellence in research and academics.
The scholarship covers full tuition fees, amounting to approximately Rs 34.19 lakh per year. In addition, Nampi will receive a maintenance stipend of Rs 22.75 lakh for living expenses and a Research, Training, and Supporting grant of around Rs 5 lakh to assist with research-related costs.
