One Nation, One Election Bill: A Long Time Coming, Says Kiren Rijiju

Date:

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju emphasized that the One Nation, One Election (ONOE) project was not introduced hastily. Instead, it emerged from extensive deliberations by a high-powered committee chaired by former President Ram Nath Kovind. Rijiju explained that the committee’s detailed discussions culminated in a report submitted to the government. This report was subsequently accepted by the Cabinet, leading to the Bill’s introduction in the House and its referral to the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC).
