Ziro Valley, renowned for its scenic beauty and cultural significance, is now home to India’s first Integrated Aqua Park. Approved in 2023 by the Department of Fisheries under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), this innovative project was virtually inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in August 2024. With a budget of ₹43.59 crore, the park aims to strengthen the fisheries sector, promote tourism, and create new livelihood opportunities for the local community.

Located in Taring, Ziro, the park features a unique aquarium named the “Aqua Museum,” which houses approximately 150 fish species from various regions, including China, Indonesia, Japan, and Africa, along with native species such as Arunachal Pradesh’s state fish. The facility is designed with a multi-terrace layout and includes a fish seed production unit, contributing to sustainable aquaculture. Additionally, visitors can enjoy an affordable fish pedicure service, adding a recreational element to their experience. One of the park’s most captivating features is its collection of colorful lilies, which has become a major attraction for tourists.

Since its opening, the park has recorded nearly 19,000 visitors by February, reflecting its growing popularity. Children under five years of age can enter free of charge, making it an ideal spot for families. Speaking to AP Direct India, Farm Manager Mihin Tapin shared his vision for further expanding the park’s offerings, including the development of a children’s play area to make the space more engaging for younger visitors.

With its diverse aquatic species, innovative facilities, and future expansion plans, the Integrated Aqua Park in Ziro Valley is set to become a key destination for ecotourism and fisheries development. By promoting sustainable fish farming and attracting visitors, it is expected to play a vital role in boosting the region’s economy and environmental conservation efforts.
