Ziro, 27 February 2026:
The District Round of Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament 2026 was successfully conducted by the Nodal Institute – Indira Gandhi Technological And Medical Sciences University (IGTAMSU), Ziro on 27 February 2026 at the Conference Hall of Hotel Blue Pine. The programme was organized under the theme “50 Years of Emergency: Lessons for Indian Democracy”, encouraging youth to critically reflect upon the historical significance of the Emergency period and its enduring implications for constitutional governance, civil liberties, and democratic institutions in India.

The inaugural session commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by the Welcome Address delivered by the Programme Coordinator, Mr. Bidyananda Singh. He highlighted the objectives of the programme and urged the youth to understand the nation’s history while developing a solution-oriented outlook towards contemporary challenges.
The programme was graced by Dr. Prasant Roy, Registrar, IGTAMSU, as the Chief Guest. In his address, he emphasized the importance of safeguarding democratic principles and strengthening constitutional values among the youth.

Shri Tai Arun, Trade Development Officer-cum-DIPRO In charge of Lower Subansiri District, attended the programme as one of the Jury Members. In his address, he encouraged participants to speak with confidence and clarity while respecting differing perspectives. He exhorted that the path to a Viksit Bharat depends on informed, aware, and responsible youth. He also appreciated the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, and the district nodal institute IGTAMSU Ziro for providing such a vibrant democratic platform to the youth.

Smti Tage Rita Takhe, a renowned entrepreneur-cum-founder of Naara Aaba, attending the programme as another Jury Member, urged the participants to align their activities, hobbies, and career aspirations with the vision of a Viksit Bharat to make India developed and self-reliant.
The Youth Parliamentary Deliberations began with a detailed briefing on the rules and evaluation criteria. A total of 27 participants, primarily from IGTAMSU and Saint Claret College, actively engaged in structured parliamentary proceedings, presenting well-researched arguments and informed perspectives aligned with the theme.

Along with Smti Tage Rita Takhe and Shri Tai Arun, Shri Anwar Husain, HoD (I/C), C & M Department, IGTAMSU evaluated the deliberations of participants as a jury.
Based on the marks awarded by the panel, five participants—Ms. Karyir Ronya, Ms. Apung Konia, Ms. Reena Tamang, Ms. Ajo Pulu, and Shri Raut Aung Tingwa—were selected to represent the district at the State Round of Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament 2026.

The session concluded with the announcement of results, distribution of certificates to all participants, and the closing address delivered by Ms. Tasmin Sattar, Faculty of IGTAMSU. The District Round served as a meaningful platform to promote democratic awareness, reflective thinking, and responsible citizenship among young individuals.
