In a moment of immense pride for the Apatani community, Miss Bullo Manku has been allotted to the prestigious Indian Foreign Service (IFS), becoming the second Apatani woman to achieve this remarkable feat. Her selection not only marks a personal milestone but also stands as a beacon of inspiration for aspiring civil service candidates from the Tani belt and beyond.

Miss Manku’s journey to the top has been one of dedication and perseverance. I had the privilege of conducting her mock interview last year at the ALS IAS Interview Board Room — a session that was also graced by the former Ambassador of India to Italy. Her thoughtful feedback post-interview highlighted her keen understanding of the nuances involved in making a strong impression before the UPSC panel, a testament to her clarity and preparation.
The success of Bullo Manku is not an isolated achievement but a reflection of the strong foundation laid by her family. Her sister has already made her mark in the Indian Revenue Service (IRS), while their brother, Bullo Kano, is serving as an Associate Professor in Delhi. This exceptional trio is a product of the vision and values instilled by their proud parents, Naku Bullo Tama and Barmi Anyo — exemplary figures in the Apatani community.
As Bullo Manku steps into the global arena, representing India as a Foreign Service officer, she carries with her the dreams of many and the hopes of a community eager to see more of its youth rise to such heights. Her story will surely inspire generations of Tani aspirants to aim high and work tirelessly toward success in the UPSC and beyond.
