In a significant initiative to promote self-employment and rural enterprise, the Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM) successfully organized a ‘Udyam Panjikaran Mela’ at Abotani Hall, Hapoli, Ziro on July 10, aiming to register rural entrepreneurs under the Udyam Portal of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India.

The mela has been inaugurated by the ADC Smti Himani Meena, IAS who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In her speech, Himani Meena said there were times when we used to hear only big names in the business industry, but today time has changed and we witness the success stories of small enterprises and Self-Help Groups (SHGs) also. While illustrating the success stories of ‘Kudumbashree’ of Kerala and ‘Looms of Ladakh’ of Ladakh, she encouraged the NGOs towards standardizing and branding of their products for enhancing demands and marketability of their products. She also urged the NGOs to use the technology and eMarketing or digital marketing platforms like Facebook, Amazon etc. for forward marketing linkages. She also informed that two VDVKCs have been established with small scale food processing units in Hong-Hari and Ziro-I villages respectively through ArSRLM.

Smti Takhe Rinyo Nani, Superintendent of Tax & Excise, who is also the General Secretary of Apatani Women Association Ziro (AWAZ) appreciated the ArSRLM Ziro for their initiative. She informed the SHGs that her organization runs an AWAZ Emporium at Ziro and also offered to sell their homemade products.
The mela witnessed enthusiastic participation from hundreds of rural entrepreneurs, SHG members and budding local business owners. Through on-spot registration, awareness sessions, and documentation support, the event aimed to bring informal businesses into the formal economy by facilitating Udyam registration, which provides recognition, access to government schemes, credit facilities, and market linkages. As many as 85 enterprises have been registered on a single day.
Smti Tasso Yallu, SDHO, Ziro and Smti Elizabeth Bui, Branch Manager, Arunachal Pradesh Rural Bank, Ziro also spoke in the event.
Among others, CO Mide Bage, TDO Tai Arun, BMM ArSRLM Rimpi Tage, officals from Agriculture, Horticulture, Industries and ArSRLM were present in the mela.
