In a significant crackdown on illegal narcotics, Ziro Police arrested three alleged drug peddlers in two separate operations and seized a total of 10.3 grams of suspected heroin. Acting on credible intelligence received on April 21, 2025, regarding drug activities in Kalung village, the police team under the supervision of the SDPO and SP Ziro swiftly moved into action and arrested one Tailyang Tado from his residence. The team recovered three plastic vials containing suspected heroin weighing 4 grams, along with 88 empty vials, indicating possible distribution. In a second operation carried out on April 23, police apprehended two more individuals—Lingdum Takia and Hari Chetry—based on inputs about drugs being sold from a dumper truck. The vehicle was located near the Indian Oil petrol pump at Pai Gate, where the suspects were found inside. Upon search, officers recovered six vials of suspected heroin weighing 6.3 grams. Both cases have been registered under the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway to identify and dismantle the network.
