State Govt. Commits to Skilling Youth: 25 Trainees Receive Job Offers in Hospitality Sector

Itanagar, 3rd April 2025: Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Nyato Dukam said the state Govt. is committed to skill and provide jobs to unemployed youth of the state.

The Minister said this during the ‘felicitation of food and beverage trainees and job offer distribution ceremony’ at the civil secretariat conference hall here today.

Emphasizing ‘dignity of labour’, Minister Dukam said no job is big or small and one should have the tenacity to love the job chosen for self-sustenance. “I was also a teacher and taught for five years at Govt. school prior to entering politics”, he said, while adding success lies in enjoying one’s job and deriving job satisfaction out of it.

Labeling the young recruits venturing outside the state  as brand ambassadors of Arunachal Pradesh, the Minister advised them to maintain good conduct and promote the image of the state. ‘You are the role models and inspirations, and your success will inspire and incite other unemployed youth to follow your footsteps’, he said. Minister Nyato also announced that Govt. of AP would provide a stipend of Rs 375 per day under the State Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme per trainee for one year who goout of state for job or job related training.

Congratulating the trainees on successful completion of the training and getting placements, Advisor to Minister SDE Dr. Mohesh Chai said skill development is the panacea to unemployment. ‘Govt.jobs are scarce and securing jobs at the private sector arena is the alternative to arrest rising unemploymentin the state. For this, our youth need to get skilled and be willing to venture outside the state for jobs’, he said.

While calling for a change in the education system to meet the aspirations of the youth, Dr.Chai said the state education system should focus more on skill development rather than acquiring mere degrees. He also informed the state Govt. under Pema Khandu is quite serious on skill development and employment of the youth.

While highlighting the various roles, activities and achievements of the Department of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, CommissionerSaugat Biswas said such initiatives equip the trainees with vital practical skills on menu knowledge, food safety and hygiene, customer service, and back-area management aligned with standard operating procedures which are needed of a professional in hospitality sector. These skills not only enhance employability, but also prepare the trainees to excel in competitive professional environments, added Biswas.

Biswas also emphasised that with focused training and industry partnerships, our goal is to empower the young workforce to lead the way in making Arunachal Pradesh a key player in hospitality industry. ‘Hospitality sector offers immense growth opportunities for youth of Arunachal Pradesh as the state is a sought-after tourist destination place. Such skill development training program fosters a culture of professional excellence, instills confidence, and create pathways to sustainable livelihoods for the trainees’, he said.

Earlier, SDE Secretary Bullo Mamu highlighted the activities conducted during the two-month training program. She elaborated on the comprehensive training provided to the traineeswhich included various skill development sessions and five days on-the-job training at E&K restaurant.

Managing Director, Visan Foundation Sangeeta Ranjit informed that during the training programme, trainees were taught with an NSQF-aligned course in food and beverages. The assessment was conducted by the Tourism and Hospitality Sector Council. She also informed that the next batch would commence soon under the CSR initiative of Honda India Foundation. Meanwhile, Sangeeta also expressed her gratitude to the Department of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship for their mentorship and support.
