The Itanagar police have arrested two individuals in connection with the kidnapping and assault of a consultant working with the Department of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of Arunachal Pradesh.
The incident took place around 12:30 am on March 22, when the victim was on his way home from the civil secretariat to his rented accommodation in A-Sector. Near Ziro Point, he was intercepted by three individuals—a woman and two men, later identified as Biku Shi (30) and Mili Nobin (32), both permanent residents of Kamle district. The group was traveling in a car when they forcefully abducted the consultant.
According to the police, the victim was physically assaulted and verbally abused by the accused. They searched his belongings, checked his identity and financial documents, and attempted to extort money from him. When they could not find any cash, they took his mobile phone and eventually threw him out of the moving vehicle near Tigdo check gate. The accused later discarded the victim’s phone while returning, the police reported.
Following the victim’s complaint, the police acted swiftly, arresting the two male suspects and recovering the stolen mobile phone and important documents. The woman involved in the crime has been issued a legal notice to appear before the investigating officer. A case has been registered under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and further investigation is ongoing.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Rohit R. Singh assured that the Itanagar police are committed to maintaining law and order and will take strict action against those who threaten public safety.
