In preparation for the General Panchayat Election 2025, a coordination meeting was convened on Saturday at the Golden Jubilee Conference Hall, District Secretariat, Ziro. The session was chaired by Election Observer Shri Pagli Sora and attended by Deputy Commissioner–cum–DEO Smti Oli Perme, DPDO Shri Hage Tarung, Superintendent of Police Shri Keni Bagra, Returning Officers, political party leaders, and contesting candidates.
DEO Smti Oli Perme, in her welcome remarks, expressed satisfaction that a large number of ZPM seats—10 out of 14 ZPC segments—remain uncontested this year. She said this reflects a positive democratic atmosphere and appealed to all stakeholders to maintain peace and harmony throughout the election period.
DPDO Shri Hage Tarung briefed attendees on the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and urged candidates and party representatives to strictly adhere to all guidelines issued by the State Election Commission.
Superintendent of Police Shri Keni Bagra outlined the security preparations for the polls and reminded candidates to comply with the MCC. He cautioned that firearms must be deposited within the prescribed deadline to avoid licence cancellation. He conveyed his good wishes and hoped for a disciplined and incident-free election.
Election Observer Shri Pagli Sora reiterated that observers act as the “eyes and ears” of the Commission. Calling elections the true festival of democracy, he urged candidates to maintain peace, guide their workers responsibly, follow expenditure limits, and keep proper accounts to avoid legal complications. He also encouraged stakeholders to contact him freely for any election-related concerns, noting that his details are publicly available.
An interactive session followed, with candidates actively raising queries and offering suggestions, contributing to a constructive and transparent discussion.
The District Administration reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a peaceful, transparent, and inclusive Panchayat Election 2025 and extended best wishes to all contesting candidates.
