Itanagar, March 13:
Amid concerns over the evolving international energy supply chain situation, the Government of Arunachal Pradesh on Friday reviewed the availability and supply of Petroleum, Oil and Lubricants (POL) products and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) in the state, assuring that the situation remains under control.
A review meeting was held at the Civil Secretariat in Itanagar on March 13 and was chaired by Food & Civil Supplies Minister Gabriel D. Wangsu and co-chaired by Chief Secretary Manish Kumar Gupta. The meeting was attended by Secretary (Food & Civil Supplies) Bullo Mamu, Director (Food & Civil Supplies) Tayek Pado, State Level Coordinator of Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) Millo Chada, along with Deputy Commissioners and District Food & Civil Supplies Officers from across the state.

During the meeting, the State Level Coordinator of Oil Marketing Companies informed that the supply of LPG and other POL products across the state is operating normally. Distribution is being closely monitored to ensure uninterrupted availability in all districts. Oil Marketing Companies currently maintain adequate stocks of LPG and POL products to meet the public demand.
As a precautionary step to ensure fair distribution among consumers, the government has introduced a minimum waiting period of 25 days between domestic LPG cylinder bookings. LPG bookings will continue through digital platforms, and deliveries will be verified using a Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) system.
Authorities also stated that LPG supplies to commercial establishments are currently being regulated, with priority given to households and essential sectors such as education and healthcare. The State Level Coordinator will soon establish a public helpline to address concerns related to LPG and POL supply. For non-domestic establishments outside the education and healthcare sectors, a three-member committee formed by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas will review requests for LPG supply.
The Department of Food & Civil Supplies, along with district administrations, will continue to monitor the supply situation to ensure that no artificial shortages occur. Officials warned that hoarding of LPG and POL products is illegal and strict action will be taken against violators under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955 and other relevant regulations.
The Chief Secretary advised that although stocks are currently adequate, households should use LPG judiciously. Commercial establishments, where feasible and subject to permission from the Arunachal Pradesh State Pollution Control Board, may temporarily explore alternative fuels such as kerosene or coal.
Meanwhile, Minister Gabriel D. Wangsu emphasised that the situation remains under control and urged all stakeholders to act responsibly to prevent unnecessary public concern. He also called on citizens to avoid spreading or relying on unverified information related to fuel supply.
The meeting concluded with officials reiterating that the government will continue close monitoring to ensure uninterrupted availability of LPG and POL products across Arunachal Pradesh.
