Samsung phones running OneUI 6 can set one-time password for sharing internet

Samsung has started rolling out its latest Android 14-based One UI 6 software update for India and other markets. The latest update comes with multiple new features for the tech giant’s Galaxy smartphones. Some of these features improve security and privacy. The biggest new security feature is the Auto Blocker that comes bundled with One UI 6. Apart from this, the software update includes another important feature that offers Samsung users the option to set a one-time password (OTP) while sharing their phone's internet with another device via a mobile hotspot.

OTP for mobile hotspot in OneUI 6: How this feature works
According to a report by Sammobile, this new feature is similar to the guest Wi-Fi network functionality which is available on most modern routers. However, in this case guests are limited to one-time use and Samsung users will have to re-enable the OTP every time they want to temporarily share their internet connection with someone else. Users also won’t be able to set one-time passwords manually. These codes will be randomly generated every time the feature is used.

How to set up OTP for mobile hotspot in Samsung’s OneUI 6
The one-time password option can be found in the Settings » Connections » Mobile Hotspot and Tethering » Mobile Hotspot menu on Galaxy devices running Android 14-based One UI 6. To enable it, users have to tap the One-time password option in the Mobile Hotspot menu and then use the toggle to turn it on.

Once it's done the temporary password, which includes letters, alphabets, and special characters, will be displayed in big letters in the middle of the screen. Users can share the password using a QR code by tapping the QR code button below the displayed password. Samsung will also allow users to reset the password to get a new one by tapping the Reset password button.
