Samsung Galaxy S24 series may get these generative AI features with One UI 6.1

Samsung is expected to announce its next-generation flagship smartphone series, the Galaxy S24 lineup in January 2024. Apart from the upgraded hardware, the upcoming models are also expected to come with Samsung’s customised OneUI 6.1 skin based on Android 14. The software, which will later make its way to older devices, is rumoured to include a feature that will keep the smartphone’s battery's health in check and may come with some AI features.

Now, a report has revealed some of the AI features that will arrive with OneUI 6.1.

OneUI 6.1 may bring AI-generated wallpapers and more
A tipster named Benit Bruhner Pro has leaked several One UI 6.1 features (spotted by Sammobile) and has posted their pictures on X (formerly Twitter).

Among these features, the OneUI 6.1 may also include an AI-powered wallpaper generator. This tool will be able to create wallpapers based on user input. The report claims that users will be allowed to enter the subject's name and the background's name for the feature to generate a wallpaper based on these two descriptions. The lock screen in OneUI 6.1 will also have the option to add portrait and weather effects.

Apart from this, One UI 6.1's built-in photo editor will also offer the ability to relocate objects through a drag-and-drop gesture. Users will be able to select a subject or object from one image and place it in another image.

The AI tool will also enable users to modify the existing images in their gallery. For example, users can straighten pictures and fill in non-existing details with the image editor. The photo editor will also allow users to redo and undo edits such as drawings and stickers.

OneUI 6.1: Other AI features coming to Samsung smartphones
With OneUI 6.1, Samsung Notes will also add a feature that will be able to summarise long notes. The tool will be trained to turn long text into easy-to-read bullet points. The AI-enabled feature will also be able to auto-format handwritten notes after converting them to text.

A few weeks ago, Samsung also announced that One UI 6.1 will also be able to translate voice calls from one language to another in real-time. The translation will be done for both the persons on the call. This feature will also be the first feature that will be powered by Samsung Gauss, the company's first in-house large language foundational model.

One UI 6.1 will also add the Voice Focus feature to Samsung phones. This feature is already present on some mid-range and entry-level smartphones. However, this feature is now expected to arrive for high-end phones with the One UI 6.1 update.

The upcoming software is also expected to bring a new Adaptive Protection feature. This feature will charge the phone's battery up to 80% and will resume charging up to 100% just before the user wakes up. The Maximum Protection feature will charge the battery only up to 80%.
