Realme 12 Pro may soon launch in India: What to expect

Chinese smartphone maker Realme recently launched its latest flagship, the Realme GT5 Pro, in its domestic market. Now, the company is expected to focus on its mid-range Realme 12 series. According to a report by GizmoChina, two models from the upcoming lineup Realme 12 Pro and Realme 12 Pro+ have been listed on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification portal. The Pro+ variant was also approved by Indonesia’s SDPPI certification platform as well.

On the BIS site, the Realme 12 Pro and Realme 12 Pro+ models were listed with the model numbers “RMX3842” and “RMX3840” respectively. However, these listings don’t reveal much about the smartphones

The company is also reportedly working on the vanilla Realme 12 model. The company has yet to announce the detailed specifications are yet to be officially announced. However, leaks and rumours making rounds of the internet have revealed some details about the upcoming smartphones.

Realme 12 series: What to expect

As per the report, the Realme 12 Pro is expected to arrive with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage and may carry a price tag of about Rs 25,000. The smartphone series is likely to be launched in China during the first quarter of 2024 and may arrive in other global markets including India at a later date. The lineup is expected to compete with the Redmi Note 13 which is scheduled to launch in January 2024.

The Realme 12 Pro is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset which is based on the 4nm architecture. The chipset is also likely to be backed by an Adreno GPU to handle graphics-intensive tasks.

Realme 12 Pro is likely to house a 32MP IMX709 telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom support. Meanwhile, the Pro+ variant may boast a 64MP OmniVision OV64B lens with 3x optical zoom capabilities. The report also claims that both smartphones may feature a circular camera layout with a dual camera setup. More details are expected to surface in the coming days.
