New Delhi: The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has tied up with a Bengaluru-based non-profit to increase the use of technology in focus areas such as education and agriculture.
Top civil servants from the central ministry will now partake in The/Nudge Institute’s 18-month fellowship – the Indian Administrative Fellowship – to help spur digital innovation in the department.
The programme aims to bridge the gap between public and private sector senior executives to enhance government initiatives through data- and technology-driven change and interventions.
Access to livelihoods, reforms in governance, and the delivery of citizen services are the goals of this fellowship, The/Nudge said.
Sudha Srinivasan, the CEO of The/Nudge Centre for Social Innovation, said the previous experience with state governments had demonstrated the “transformative power of technology in public systems, leading to sustainable development for millions of citizens”.
She said the fellowship was now being broadened to Union ministries. “Through this partnership with the Department of Social Justice, we have the chance to assist some of the most-marginalised communities in India.”
The fellowship was started with the Karnataka government in 2021, and the organisation has also worked with Punjab.
After 18 months, fellowship participants receive a certificate from the Indian School of Business, according to a press note issued jointly by the ministry and the non-profit.
