Google is ‘killing’ yet another project, here’s why

It has been 14 years since Google launched the “Experiment with Google” platform for users/developers as a space to showcase their new projects designed using Google’s technology. Well, it's shutting down now and Google is asking users to move to Google Labs, its newly launched space.

The community note
Experiment with Google's website has already started displaying a new community message which talks about the beginning of the service and all the ideas people have submitted over the years. The post also confirms that the website will be active as an archive for all the 1612 experiments submitted by users.

“A NOTE TO OUR COMMUNITY

Experiments with Google was born out of a simple idea, but you all turned it into something beyond anything we could have ever imagined. You filled it with thousands of experiments that inspired people everywhere - from the classroom to the surface of Mars.

When it comes to the internet, 14 years is a long time. So in the spirit of experimentation we’re trying something new.

This site will continue as a rich archival gallery for all existing experiments. But the action will live on at labs.google, a new place filled with new tools and toys for you to play with. And together we can continue to experiment with the future of technology.”

Google Labs is the way to go now
Google these days is all about Artificial Intelligence and Google Labs is the place for the company to push all the experimental AI features. However, Google is now also accepting submissions from users -- only AI-based experiments-- as of the moment.

There’s a new form on the Google Labs website using which users can now submit their AI-based projects on Google Labs.
