YUPIA, 15 Apr: As the countdown to the simultaneous elections begins, general observer (GO) Amit Dhaka reviewed the election management/preparedness at the DC’s conference hall here in Papum Pare district on Monday.

Stating that the last 72 hours prior to the poll day -“which include the last day of the campaign period, the non-campaign period (last 48 hours) and the poll period” – are very critical in election management, Dhaka urged the nodal officers to “remain alert and aware of the multifarious activities and the directives issued by the ECI.”

Papum Pare DEO Jiken Bomjen informed that polling will be held at 150 booths in three assembly constituencies (Itanagar-72, Doimukh-42 and Sagalee-36) on 19 April from 7 am to 5 pm.

“All human resource and force deployment and logistic arrangements have been made at these polling stations,” the DEO informed.

“Polling stations, 5-DFO social forestry office building and 45-KV school building NERIST have been earmarked as all-women managed polling stations and 16-NEEPCO has been earmarked as a model polling station,” he informed.

“Besides the EPICs, the list of documents required as valid proof of identity during the voting day include Aadhaar card, PAN card, unique disability ID card, service ID card, passbook with photo by bank/post office, health insurance smart card, driving licence, passport, smart card issued by the RGI under the NPR, pension document, official ID card issued to MPs/MLAs/MLCs, and MGNREGA card,” the DEO said.

He appealed to the citizens to “follow ethical voting, be informed voters, and avoid corrupt practices like money culture.”

“Efforts have been made by the district election office to create awareness on EVM/VVPATs through digital outreach programmes using the SVEEP van in various locations of Papum Pare, including the capital region. A helpdesk has been set up at the DEO office, Yupia, to address doubts on the polling day activities and provide hands-on training on EVM/VVPATs, and training programmes have been organised to create awareness about the C-Vigil app, NGS portal, voter helpline app, etc,” the DEO added.
