Naharlagun, 14th Feb: The National Center for Vector Borne Diseases Control (NCVBDC) hosted a State Review Meeting on vector-borne diseases in Arunachal Pradesh from 12th to 14th February 2024. Dr. K.T. Mulung, SPO, NCVBDC, revealed that 14 out of 25 districts are on track for Malaria-free certification.
Marge Sora, APCS (MD NHM), commended the state’s efforts in reducing malaria cases, emphasizing the importance of vigilance in border areas. Expressing a visionary goal, he aspired for Arunachal Pradesh to be the first state in the country to achieve Malaria-free status.
Dr. R. Rina (Jt. DHS) Cum DHS Incharge applauded the decreasing malaria cases and aimed for complete elimination by 2027. He stressed the importance of caution, drawing attention to past resurgences. Dr. L.S Singh, Senior Regional Director (MoHFW), Shillong, underscored the “3T” approach – Test, Treat, Track – and emphasized proper documentation for successful malaria elimination certification.
The meeting also addressed the status of vector-borne diseases like Malaria, Dengue, and Japanese encephalitis in the state, with a focus on Malaria-free certification. The Vector Borne IEC Creative Competition recognized West Siang, Namsai, and Lower Subansiri for their outstanding contributions. Appreciation certificates were awarded to all participating districts.
