Google's parent company Alphabet paid $20 billion to Apple in 2022 to maintain its status as the default search engine on Apple’s web browser Safari, it was reported. As Google faces the antritrust case which looks at its deal with Apple and how it helped the company monopolise online search business, it was reported that the amount paid by Google to Apple increased in the last couple of years.

Yes, companies like Microsoft have attempted to negotiate similar agreements with Apple which have reportedly been unsuccessful. It was earlier reported that Microsoft wanted to sell Bing to Apple. Meanwhile, Apple could be in talks with Google to integrate Gemini AI in its devices.
